Effective leaders whether they be hired CEOs, entrepreneurs, school teachers or physicians create opportunities through action. Elon Musk did just that this week.
We don’t often side with Mr. Musk but have been in lockstep with him during this COVID period. Mr. Musk, Tesla (tkr: TSLA), co-founder and CEO recently reopened Tesla’s Fremont, CA manufacturing plant without the blessing of the state of California or Alameda County (Musk’s greatest mistake was perhaps setting up shop in California to begin with).
Tesla reopened for business in Fremont this week and then a funny thing happened. Alameda County almost immediately gave its blessing, clearing the company to open next week (California apparently does not care that the state is running a $54 billion deficit). More often than not it pays to take the initiative. Action usually leads to better outcomes than inaction.
