Alphabet Is The AI Alpha Dog

Alphabet Is The AI Alpha Dog

Amazon, Apple and Microsoft will never catch the AI leader.

Google’s AI capability will become increasingly sophisticated (we use “AI” as a catch-all for artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning and related disciplines), with time and will evolve at a faster rate than Amazon, Microsoft and certainly Apple. Google on-device applications such as Google Assistant, Live Caption, Lens and Translate are just scratching the surface of what will be possible in an “always on” AI world. Nuance/Microsoft talk about Ambient AI, but the combined company has a long way to go to catch Google. Time will only extend Google’s lead as ever more people actively use Google products – thus training Google’s AI models/ neural networks in the process. One area were we expect AI to pay big dividends for Google is in its GCP business. 25 years from now GCP is likely to be the cloud infrastructure services leader, not AWS or Azure. Two decades from now GCP will automate tasks that AWS and Azure may only dream about. As users actively feed Google’s AI beast, they feed it passively as well. One example of passive feeding is Google’s Project Nightingale where patient medical data resides inside of GCP. Project Nightingale is quietly assembling a massive data store of healthcare data perhaps only rivaled by Amazon Comprehend Medical.
