One of my favorite features of Google’s Pixel phone is that it is easy to repair.
- Apple’s iPhone has multiple points where the screen connects to the circuitry. This creates repair complexity.
- Google’s Pixel phone has a singular connection point between the display and circuitry. This makes for a simple repair (assuming you have the correct tools).
- It will be interesting to see if the Pixel captures a DIY audience over time. I believe the Pixel is a better value than the iPhone feature by feature.
One may purchase a Google OEM replacement screen for approximately $99. Given the correct tools, a Pixel repair should take no longer than 30-60 minutes (my experience with my Google Pixel 5a).
