Stagnant Labor Force Participation Rate

As this fourth of July week draws to a close, I leave you with a stagnant Labor Force Participation Rate which has been stuck at 62.6% for the months of March, April, May and June as highlighted in the first chart below.

  • The second chart illustrates that the Labor Force Participation rate has yet to recover to pre-COVID levels.
  • This stagnant Labor Force Participation rate is hardly the sign of a robust economy. I doubt we will return to pre-COVID labor participation rates until every CARES Act benefit and COVID-related Government benefit is no more.
