Millions of Americans will invite Amazon into their homes via Amazon’s in-home drone video service (“Always Home Cam”) powered by Amazon Ring.
Ring’s Always Home Cam will do more than provide customers with on-demand, in-home video surveillance. The Always Home Cam will provide Amazon with a visual map of customers’ homes and insights into personal data which Amazon may leverage to sell customers more goods and services.
Amazon Home devices such as the Echo family of products (powered by Amazon Alexa), this new Always Home Cam (available next year for $250) and Amazon’s behavioral analytic devices are essentially intelligence gathering devices which enable Amazon to become smarter about its customers. They also provide Amazon with a weapon to combat Google, owner of the dominant user intelligence gathering tool – Google search.
